NAPLES – Poland was scrapping in front of the net when Kevin Young found an opening to score the game-winning goal, lifting Poland to a 3-2 win over Lake Region in a WMC boys’ soccer game Saturday.
The Knights (1-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the half on goals by Brad Marsh and Roran McNulty. The Lakers (0-1) bounced back in the second half with consecutive goals from Jonathan Marstaller, before Young responded with an unassisted gift in front of the net.
Max Levine deflected 11 shots for the Knights, while Duncan Ross made seven saves for the Lakers.
