1923 – 2003

BATH – Rolf M. Johnsen, 80, of Winship St. died Monday, Sept. 8, at Winship Green Nursing Center.

He was born in Old Town Aug. 7, 1923, the son of Rolf and Mary Saucier Johnsen. He attended St. Francis and St. John’s School. He worked at the Worumbo Mill for several years and served in the Navy during World War II. On Sept. 6, 1947 he married Lorraine Santerre.

Mr. Johnsen worked in sales, first at the Hardware Trading Post, then at Thibeault Oil and then many years at Gediman’s Appliance Store in Bath until retiring.

Mr. Johnsen was an umpire for Little League Baseball for many years. He enjoyed helping people.

Mr. Johnsen was a member of St. John’s the Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 20 of Brunswick.

Surviving besides his wife of Brunswick is a brother, Roland Johnsen of Lewiston; three sisters, Esther Paradis of Waterville, Irene Paiement of Bedford, N.H., and Thelma Eison of Douglasville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Erna Toothaker and Evelyn Young.
