GREENE – The third annual Greene Village Celebration planned for Saturday is expected to have the largest parade the town has seen in many years.
The route will run from the town office to Greene Central School. It is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
“The parade is going to be one of the biggest Greene has ever seen,” Town Clerk Sally Hebert told the Board of Selectmen Monday night.
Other planned events include a blueberry pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, a flea market, face painting, bake sale and the Toot ‘n Chug Railroad.
Displays of vintage cars are planned, as well as displays by the Historical Society at the Old Town Hall, the ATV Club, Androscoggin Land Trust and the Allen Pond Improvement Association.
A book and pottery sale is set at the Julia A. Morse Library. There is a pie-eating contest, a chicken barbecue at the Grange from 11 a.m. to noon; and a bean supper at the VFW from 4 to 6 p.m.
