TURNER – SAD 52 River Valley Adult Education will offer a Maine Guide School for area residents. The 13-week course is designed to prepare participants for the oral and written examination to become a guide in the hunting, fishing or recreation classification.

The course will cover map and compass, lost person scenario and all aspects for the classifications. Participants will also become certified in CPR and first aid. The class will start on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Leavitt Area High School and will run from 6 to 9 p.m.

Adult Education will also offer a variety of classes starting this month. Language offerings include French, Spanish and sign language.

Other classes include English, math, history, computer, welding, CPR/first aid, blood pressure and cholesterol screening, hunter and gun safety, ATV safety, handgun safety, Advocates for Children programs, yoga, exercise, ballroom dancing, dog obedience, quilting, tole painting, basket weaving, horse workshop, creative rubber stamping, snakes, frogs and lizard workshop and driver education.

Beginning the week of Sept 15, the Adult Education office will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Call the office at 225-3478 for more information.
