DIXFIELD – Police have identified the people involved in a deadly crash Saturday night off Route 2.

Driver Monica Chenard, 16, of Rumford survived the single-car accident and was flown to Central Maine Medical Center with very serious injuries, Patrol Officer Mark Dow said.

Passenger Cory Bouthot, 19, of Mexico died at the scene.

Dow said an investigation into the accident is continuing. Sometime after 7:30 when the 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix was pulling from the road onto a truck turnout, it appears the driver lost control of the vehicle, Dow said.

There’s no indication of anything criminal, he added, “just a terribly tragic accident.”

A nursing supervisor at CMMC Sunday night said she could neither confirm nor deny whether Chenard was at the hospital.
