LEWISTON – Boot Camp for New Dads will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 20, at Advocates for Children, 157 Main St.

It is an innovative program designed to build confidence and prepare first-time fathers for the challenges of parenthood. Boot Camp’s mission is to help dads get connected and positively involved with their new baby so they remain a strong and constructive force throughout their children’s lives.

The camp is a three-hour workshop taught by fathers. Utilizing a man-to-man training approach, veteran dads and their newborns orient rookie dads who are expecting their first baby or have infants 6 months and younger. Boot Camp prepares men to be dads in all respects, beginning with holding and comforting a real baby.

Participants come from all professions, ethnic backgrounds, religious affiliations and ages.
