1916 – 2003
LEWISTON – Helen S. Garneau, 87, of 19 Fairview Drive, Lisbon, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the d’Youville Pavilion Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the past two weeks.
Born in Winthrop on May 25, 1916, she was the daughter of Konstanty and Elizabeth Luski Waliski. She was a graduate of Monmouth Academy, Class of ’34.
On May 28, 1944, she married Ernest Garneau at St. Francis Church in Winthrop. She worked for many years at several Kinney Shoe Stores managed by her husband, including stores in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and the Lewiston and Portland mall stores, retiring in 1983.
She loved gardening, and always had the nicest garden on her street. She also enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, swimming, dancing, and music.
A member of Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon, she is survived by her husband of 59 years; a sister, Amelia Waliski of North Monmouth; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Teddy Waliski; and a sister, Lena Waliski.
