AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union announces the winner of a scholarship of $500 given to a graduating senior for higher education in the arts field.

The recipient is Brianna Lee Emerson, daughter of Wayne and Jane Emerson of Poland. She is a graduate of Poland Regional High School and was involved in coaching middle school track while at the school. Other volunteer activities included work at the Good Shepherd Food-Bank and at the Auburn Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Emerson will attend Stonehill College in Easton, Mass., and will pursue studies in either journalism or photojournalism. She has worked at Cole Farms in Gray, Wilson’s Suede and Leather in Auburn and at ICT, a telemarketing agency in Oxford. She lives with her family in Poland.

The WLU scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Androscoggin County who plan to major in some aspect of the arts in college. Application is made through local high school guidance offices and is awarded after the completion of one semester of successful study.
