LEWISTON – An exhibition of photographs titled “Children of Our Landscape: Voices From Lewiston” by photographer Phyllis Graber Jensen opens with a 4:30 p.m. reception at the Bates College Chapel on Thursday, Sept. 18.

The public is invited to attend free of charge. The exhibit, also open to the public at no charge, runs through Nov. 21. The chapel is open daily between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The display features photographs of Lewiston public school students, accompanied by the children’s own words, that are the result of three different projects from 1999 through 2003 and include fourth- and sixth-graders and middle-school students.

“The writing and photography on display represent a true collaboration between the students and me,” says Jensen, a staff writer and photographer at the Bates College Office of Communications and Media Relations since 1995.

A staff photographer for the Boston Herald before moving with her family to Lewiston in 1992, Jensen worked as a photographer for Maine Times between 1993 and 1995.
