Thank you for the recent coverage and support of our school health centers in Lewiston. While I appreciate the publicity, I feel it’s necessary for me to address a common misperception about school-based health centers.

We are not just here to serve the poorest students. All students are welcome at our centers, regardless of ability to pay.

It’s important for students from families with limited means to feel comfortable accessing our services, but I want to be sure that students from families in any income bracket know we are here for them, too.

Adolescents, as a whole, tend to be an underserved population when it comes to accessing health care, regardless of economic background.

Again, I thank you for featuring our centers in the Sun Journal, and look forward to helping care for all of Lewiston’s teens.
