WILTON – Volunteers are needed to help with the annual Franklin County Children’s Task Force’s walk-athon, Make Tracks for Kids. It wil l be held Saturday, Sept. 27, starting and ending at Kineowatha Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk at 9 a.m. Walkers have a choice of a 1.5 or a 5-mile route. Make Tracks for Kids is an all inclusive event as people walking, riding a bike or horse, using a wheelchair or pushing a stroller may participate.

Volunteers are needed to help register teams and provide water stations around Wilson Lake. This annual event offers an opportunity for families and friends to enjoy time together while also benefiting the community. Prizes include a Franklin County Children’s Task Force’s T-shirt for walkers raising $75 or more. Anyone who raises $25 or more has a chance to win one of the gift certificates donated by local businesses: passes from Sugarloaf and the Livermore Falls Skating Rink, a Whispering Pines gift basket, or a family portrait from Luce Studio. All participants will receive a token of appreciation.

All the funds raised through Make Tracks for Kids will be used to strengthen families and benefit children in Franklin County and the Livermore Falls area. The Task Force sponsors many types of parental support including groups like the Nurturing Program, parent education, play groups, and the home-visiting program, Growing Healthy Families. The Task Force has also been instrumental in developing the bullying/teasing prevention program at all of the SAD 9 elementary schools, the middle school and Jay Elementary.
