PARIS – Shirley S. Miller will be the speaker at the 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, service of the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris. Gospel singer Fernald to perform

BUCKFIELD – Gospel singer Ken Fernald will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Buckfield Community Church. The public is invited.

Heritage society

to meet Sunday

WEST PARIS – The Finnish American Heritage Society of Maine will resume meetings at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Heritage Center, Maple Street. Barbara Payne will conduct a program of activities with audience participation. A coffee social will follow. The public is welcome.

Trap shoot scheduled

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Fish and Game Association is holding its fall running deer and trap shoot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at its club shooting range, 44 Paine Road, East Oxford. Winners will receive prizes. The donation for each running deer shoot is 50 cents, and each trap round $1. The clubhouse kitchen will be open for refreshments. Sunday school registration

WEST PARIS – Sunday School registration for pre-schoolers and students through sixth grade will be from 10:25 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at West Paris Baptist Church. There will be ice cream, games, crafts, puppets and songs from 10:25 until 11:30.

Craftsmen’s meeting

BRIDGTON – Artisans and craftsmen interested in showcasing their work are invited to an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Community Center on Depot Street.

McLaughlin Garden lectures

PARIS – Kristin Perry, horticulturalist at the McLaughlin Garden, will lead a lecture and hands-on workshop about planting bulbs in Maine gardens from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the McLaughlin Garden and Horticultural Center, 97 Main St., South Paris.

Participants should bring gloves, trowels and dibbles. The $8 fee includes refreshments. Preregister by calling 743-8820.

Michael Desplaines, owner of Copperline Ranch, will give tips on extending the life and usefulness of medicinal and culinary herbs from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 27. The $20 fee will cover all materials. Preregister by calling 743-8820.
