1939 – 2003
RICHMOND, Va. – Gary Robert Gray, 64, of Norway died at McQuire Veterans Medical Center while awaiting a lung transplant.
He was born in Fayette on June 11, 1939, the son of H. P. and Clara L. Gray. He served 20 years in the U. S. Air Force. He married Hazel A. Toothaker in North Jay in 1960.
He was an avid horseman since 1979 owning, training and racing his own horses. His favorite hobbies were spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting and fair time in Maine. He will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of Norway; two sons, Robert Gary Gray and his wife Sheryl of Norway and John Howard Gray and his companion Peter Wood of Scarborough; two daughters, Patricia Louise Holman and her husband David of Dixfield and JoAnn Nichols and her husband Lawrence of Oxford; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole, Heidi, Gary, T.J., Dawn, Mikayla and Zakary; his mother-in-law, Lucille Wojcik of Norway; four sisters, Delma Dodd, Nancy Ryan, Ruthanne Baily and Donna Turner; three brothers, Lewis Gray, Luther Gray and Douglas Gray.
He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Richard and Bernard.
