1926 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Maxine M. Masterman, 77, a resident of the Sandy River Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation, formerly of Phillips, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the home where she had been a resident for nearly one year.

She was born July 11, 1926, in Phillips, a daughter of Colin and Ivie (Weston) Staples. A graduate of Phillips High School, she continued her education in nurses training. A devoted homemaker, she and her late husband, Truman Masterman, celebrated 50 years of marriage. He died in May of 1999.

Mrs. Masterman was active in the Phillips Methodist Church and for a number of years served as Avon’s Tax Collector.

She is survived by a son, David C. Masterman and his wife, Frances Masterman of Avon; a daughter, Andrea Nurse and her husband, William J. Nurse of Avon; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Robert Masterman and his wife, Lorrine and their children, Annie and Robin, Adam Masterman, Ethan Masterman, Jennifer Kirkwood and her husband, Mike and their children, Gavin and Jake and Rebecca Cusson and her husband, Richard and their children, Steven and Amber.
