1921 – 2003
NORWAY – Ruby P. Coffin, 82, of West Paris died Thursday, Sept. 18, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center where she had been a resident since June.
She was born in Milton Plantation on Nov. 12, 1921, the second child of Florus and Floris Johnson Poland. She was educated in the Milton one-room school and graduated from Woodstock High School with the Class of 1940. On Feb. 14, 1942 she married James P. Coffin of Woodstock, who predeceased her on May 20, 1998.
She had been a homemaker all of her married life with the exception of the World War II years when she was employed at the “Plastic” Mill is West Paris.
She was a charter member of the West Paris Legion Axuiliary and a member of the Bryant Pond Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Jean) Millett of Greenwood; two sons, Charles of Waterford and Dale of West Paris; a sister, Mrs. Levi (Gwendolyn) Sherwin of Rumford; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Eva Poland of Bethel; seven grandchildren, Maureen M. Heath of Waterford, Sherry L. Millett, Brenda M. LaCroix and Stephen M. Millett all of Greenwood, Jeffrey D. Coffin of S. Paris, James M. Coffin of Norway and James E. Coffin of Norway; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, James; her parents; two brothers, F. Edward and Alberto (Shine) Poland; a granddaughter, Melanie Sue Coffin; and a great-grandson, Austin O. Millett.
