PHILLIPS – The Franklin County Firemen’s Association will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Fire Station.

This meeting is open to all firefighters and interested guests. There will be a program followed by refreshments and the drawing for the door prize. Please note the day and date changes for this month.

Peace film to be shown at UMF

FARMINGTON – A video featuring Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr. and Dag Hammerskojd addresses the question: Can the 21st century end violence as a reaction to conflict? It will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, in Ricker Addition Room 217 at the University of Maine at Farmington. The film is free but donations will be accepted to defray expenses. Western Mountains Peace Action Workshop presents the video, “Peace and Conflict Resolution, Part I: A World Without Weapons,” to the Farmington area community. Following the film, there will be a discussion of its premise that causes for war cannot be prevented, but peaceful resolution should be our goal. For more information, phone 652-2377 or 778-1943.

Career planning

FARMINGTON – Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will offer an 8-day basics of Career Planning training from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1, 3, 6, 7 and 8 in Farmington. This training will help participants to identify their personal values and how to express them through their career. They will also review their skills, interests and experiences and relate them to career options and explore work, education and training possibilities. They will learn to write a resume, interview with confidence and conduct a winning job search. There is no fee for participants. Crafts fair

LIVERMORE – A community crafts fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Livermore United Methodist Church. Eight tables are available, free of charge, for interested crafters.
