1904 – 2003
LEWISTON – Georges Caron, 99, formerly of 66 Riverside St., died Saturday, Sept. 20, at Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center where he resided for the past two years.
Born in St. Mathieu, Quebec, Canada, March 31, 1904, a son of Georges and Melvina Parent Caron. He was educated in Canada and migrated to the United States in 1926 in Berlin, N.H.
On July 24, 1933, he married Irene J. Thibault in Lewiston and was an accomplished carpenter and cabinetmaker and worked for the Kesaris Bros. repairing and remodeling restaurants and bowling alleys throughout Maine. He also worked for several local contractors.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and took pride in making his fishing spoons and lures. He made his own trailer for his fishing boat, which he proudly towed to every pond and lake within a hundred-mile area of Lewiston after his retirement in 1974.
He leaves a daughter, Georgette Duval and husband, Raymond, of Brunswick; a daughter-in-law, Donna Caron from Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren, Monique Smith, Colette Levesque, George W.R. Duval, Nicole Allred and Jennifer Murphy; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Anne Forgues of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Irene; a son, (Joseph) Irenee Caron; eight sisters; and three brothers.
