A sergeant said the most recent burglary resembles ones that occurred in Strong and Weld.

JAY – Police are investigating a burglary at a Warren Hill Road residence that was interrupted when the owner arrived home Saturday night.

A china doll given to the woman by her grandmother was stolen as well as some cash, Sgt. Charles Keene said.

The woman heard footsteps on the pavement outside the house when she arrived home at about 9:30 p.m., Keene said. She had left the house at 5 p.m.

When she did go into the home, some property was by the door ready to be taken, he said.

“We’ve got fingerprints and there are suspects in this,” Keene said. “We have a description of the vehicle that was in the area. We’re also following up on some leads.”

The woman would like to get her doll back, Keene said.

If anyone knows anything about the incident, they’re asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766.

There are similarities in Saturday’s burglary to burglaries in Strong and Weld that occurred during the day on Friday, Keene said.

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating those burglaries, which they said occurred between 9:30 a.m. and noon on Chandler Road in Strong and between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Route 142, or Phillips Road, in Weld.
