LEWISTON – Laura Martell tallied a hat trick to pace Lewiston to a 3-1 win over Morse in KVAC girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
Martell scored the game-winning goal at 25:03 of the second half, converting a feed from Katie Morin to lift the Blue Devils (5-0-1) to a lead they would not relinquish.
Morin added an insurance goal with just under a minute left in regulation to put the game out of reach.
Beth Melanson turned back 11 shots to record the win.
The Shipbuilders’ (5-2) lone goal came from Stephanie Suggs on a pass form Jenise Lucas in the first half.
Poland 1, Fryeburg 0
POLAND – Meghan Ford scored a goal in the first half on an assist by Mindy Thomas as Poland shutout Fryeburg, 1-0, in a girls’ soccer match Wednesday night.
Fryeburg’s goalie Corin Hall stopped 11 shots for the Raiders.
Oxford Hills 2, Medomak Valley 1
WALDOBORO – Whitney Linindoll converted a feed from Annie Foster with six minutes remaining in the first half to push Oxford Hills to a 2-1 win over Medomak Valley in KVAC soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
Alysun Ludwig opened the scoring for the Panthers, drilling an unassisted goal with 10 minutes remaining to take the early lead.
Steph Piirainen tied the game on an unassisted goal, setting the stage for Linindoll’s game-winner.
Mary Darcy needed only three saves to record the win.
Maranacook 7, Rockland 0
READFIELD – Toby Martin netted five goals for Maranacook, setting a career-high 51 goals and a new school record, to lead Maranacook to a dominant 7-0 win over Rockland in soccer action Wednesday.
Martin broke the previous record held by assistant coach Amy Taranko Brown at 47 career-high goals.
Jackie Mrazik chipped in with two goals for the Black Bears’ (5-2) win.
Amy Cloutier and Kristie Violet stopped a combined four saves for the win, while Rebekah Rhodes made five saves for the Tigers (2-5).
Gould 1, Hebron 1
HEBRON – Double overtime proved fruitless as Gould and Hebron played to a 1-1 tie in soccer action Wednesday afternoon.
Anna Geismar scored the lone goal for Hebron (2-0-1), while Allison Demshar scored for Gould (1-0-1).
Brianna O’Brien made 22 saves for the Hebron effort, while Brianna Noyes made 17 for Gould.
Buckfield 4, GPC 1
BUCKFIELD – Buckfield scored three goals in the second half to role past Greater Portland Christian Academy 4-1 in girls’ soccer Wednesday.
Chelsea Allen scored two goals and Shayna Shackford had a goal and an assist for Buckfield
Emily Hutchinson scored the other goal for Buckfield. Bree Selsay had the lone goal for Greater Portland Christian.
Brunswick 1, Leavitt 0
TURNER – Megan Clement scored the only goal of the game in the second half as the Brunswick defeat Leavitt 1-0 in a varsity soccer match Wednesday night.
Jordan Beall had 29 saves for the Hornets on 31 shots by Brunswick.
Field hockey
Mt. Blue 1, Lewiston 0
FARMINGTON – Ashley Lewia chipped in the lone Mt. Blue goal off a pass from Sarah Pluck at the top of the circle as the Cougars defeated the Lewiston Blue Devils 1-0 in girls’ soccer Wednesday.
Aubrey Ramos stopped only one shot to preserve the shutout for the Cougars (3-3-1), while the Blue Devils’ (1-6) Angie St. Hilaire made 11 stops off 12 shots.
Lisbon 2, Dirigo 1
LISBON FALLS – Sarah Laffely paced the Lisbon with one goal and assist to lead the Greyhounds to a 2-1 win over Dirigo Wednesday.
Emily Poliquin netted a goal for the Greyhounds (4-4). Kelly Campbell was also credited with an assist.
Holly Knight scored the unassisted lone goal for the Cougars (0-7).
Kim Leadbetter stopped one save for the win, while Danny Tompkins made 14 saves for Dirigo.
Gould 1, Hebron 0
HEBRON – Suzy Sams scored the only goal Gould would need to beat Hebron 1-0 in field hockey action Wednesday.
Claire Adams stopped seven shots for the Huskies (1-1), while Helen Unger-Clark made 10 saves for Hebron (0-2).
St. Doms 3, NYA 0
NORTH YARMOUTH – St. Doms’ Elisha Dorso had a goal and two assists as the Saints shutout the Panthers, 3-0, in a field hockey matchup Wednesday night.
St. Doms’ other goals were scored by Sara Daigle and Laura Rideout. Katelyn Rutt pitch in with three assists for the Saints (7-0). Caroline Wiatt had nine saves for the Panthers.
Hall-Dale 2, Jay 2
JAY – Jay and Hall-Dale played two overtimes, but the teams still played to 2-2 tie Wednesday night.
Rachel Gagnon and Ashley Brooks scored the two goals for the Tigers (4-2-1). Katie Bryer and Morah Velani scored for the Bulldogs (7-0-1).
Telstar 1, Georges Valley 0
THOMASTON – Allana Borst scored off a pass from Mallory Brown at the top of the circle after a penalty corner to lift Telstar to a 1-0 win over Georges Valley in MVC field hockey action Wednesday.
Stephanie Tripp and Heather Gionet made a combined three saves for the Rebels (6-2), while Karrie Sirois stopped 17 shots for the Buccaneers (0-8) effort.
Mtn. Valley 2, Livermore Falls 1
LIVERMORE FALLS – Jessica Allen notched a goal and an assist to lead Mountain Valley to a 2-1 victory over Livermore Falls Wednesday.
Kayla Bernard also scored for the Falcons (3-5).
Livermore Falls (0-7-1) was led by Cassandra Purrington with a pass from Ashley McDaniels.
Kim Clark made eight saves for the Mountain Valley win, while Sam Whiting stopped nine shots for the Andies.
