DETROIT (AP) – Dominik Hasek stopped 20 shots and Tomas Holmstrom had two goals and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings shut out the Boston Bruins 9-0 in a preseason game Wednesday night.
Brendan Shanahan, Jiri Hudler, Jiri Fischer, Steve Yzerman, Kirk Maltby, Mark Mowers and Mathieu Schneider also scored for Detroit. Henrik Zetterberg added three assists. Five of the goals came on the power play. Detroit led 3-0 after the first period.
Shanahan opened the scoring at 2:07 as the Red Wings held a two-man advantage. Holmstrom scored at even strength at 11:06 and Hudler connected for a power-play goal at 13:09 as Detroit once again had a 5-on-3 advantage.
Felix Potvin stopped 23 of 30 shots for Boston and Andrew Raycroft allowed one goal on 19 shots.
