WATERFORD – Dr. Mark Eastman, superintendent of SAD 17, attended the worship service at the Waterford Congregational Church, UCC, recently to receive a check for $1,000 for area homeless teens. The money was raised at the SpringFest event sponsored by the church in June.
Several local groups joined in this effort by contributing time, workers and equipment to the festival.
Participants included the Waterford PTO, library association and historical society, the Women’s Fellowship, North Waterford Congregational Church, Mt. Tire’m Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis, Melby’s Market and Eatery, Bessey Motors, The Lake Store and several local musicians. Representatives from some of these groups were at the presentation service.
In expressing his gratitude for the donation to the fund administered through his office, Eastman spoke of the plight of area homeless teens and the good work the $1,000 donation will do for these youngsters.
