LEWISTON – A special award ceremony will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, after the Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 meeting at the Lewiston Elks Lodge.
Gerald H. LeBlanc, a Vietnam War veteran who served in the U.S. Army, will be presented the Order of the Silver Rose by Maine State Rep. Roger Landry.
The award, a medal and certificate, is presented to Vietnam veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange, a defoliant. Agent Orange exposure meets the standards required in the official definition of “wounds,” as it appears in all military regulations as “an injury” to any part of the body.
To be eligible, a veteran must have required medical treatment and received treatment for Agent Orange. The Order of the Silver Rose honors veterans exposed to Agent Orange.
The VFW meeting will start at 11:30 a.m. rather than noon. Following the award a light lunch will be served.
For more information contact Landry at 490-3483 or e-mail [email protected].
