PARIS – Foster-Carroll Post 72 and auxiliary will meet for a potluck supper on Tuesday, Oct. 7, when delegates to Boys State and Girls State will give reports of their trips.

The auxiliary is planning a public craft fair scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, under the supervision of Marilyn Ramsay. All the tables have been rented and a variety of crafts will be available.

The post and auxiliary recently sponsored a public smorgasbord supper with a Chinese auction following to raise more than $1,140 for Western Maine Veterans Home Activity Department. There were donations from other Legion groups.

On Sept. 8, Sean Sheer and Ray Brown presented the South Paris post with a plaque in appreciation of the support to the Bessey Motors American Legion baseball team, and they gave Florence McLaughlin a special plaque for her dedication and support over several years to the team. The 23 certificates and awards won by the auxiliary at the Department Conference were shown to members.

On Sept. 14 the auxiliary held a toy party which was well-attended with extra orders coming in to provide the unit with funds and auction prizes. Marilyn Ramsay and Virginia Higgins were in charge of the party.

The County Council was held at the South Paris Hall on Sept. 17. Ethel Lacourse presided over the auxiliary meeting and Pat Dyer won the mystery prize. Delegates were present from Norway, South Paris, Buckfield, Locke Mills, Rumford and Mexico.

Two blood platelet drives have been held by the Red Cross at the Legion Hall recently to assist seriously ill hospital patients.
