WILTON – The 12th annual Couture family reunion was held on July 12 at Kineowatha Park. Twelve of the original 15 children of Anise and Rosaire Couture attended. There were 108 family members present. Traveling from out-of-state were Don and Jan Dupont from Pennsylvania and Sr. Martha Couture from New Hampshire.
The day was filled with games. Small children spent time in the play area while adults had cribbage and other tournaments.
The family voted to have the 2004 reunion at Kineowatha Park. They also voted to have Kim Couture serve as reunion president. The family voted to have more games for the small children and to have prizes for them next year. Names were drawn to award gifts that had been made or bought.
The reunion next year will be on July 10.
Kennedy reunion
STRONG – A total of 32 signed the Kennedy reunion book when the family met Aug. 24 at the home of Fred and Crystal Smith. Members came from Farmington, Strong, New Portland, Rome, Embden and Lincoln, N.H.
A potluck dinner was enjoyed after which President Peggy Alexander called the business meeting to order. It was voted to hold the reunion next year at Lynne Hall’s in Strong on the fourth Saturday in August.
Officers for the next year were voted in as follows: president, Peggy Alexander; vice president, Jackie Tyler; and secretary/treasurer, Vivian Kennedy. Linda Martin offered to send out reminders next year.
Minutes of last year’s meeting were read and the treasurer’s report was given. A minute of silence was held for Vesta (Betty) Dawes and others who have passed away in the last year.
The oldest woman attending was Dorcas Webster, 90, of West Farmington. Oldest man, Roger (Tim) Kennedy, 88, of Farmington. Youngest was Hunter Allen Willis Kennedy, 4 weeks, of Rome. Traveling the furthest was Kelly Dyer of Lincoln, N.H.
A silent auction followed the meeting.
Cox family
WILTON – The 77th annual Cox family reunion was held recently at Kineowatha Park with 41 present. After a potluck dinner, the meeting was held with Guy Colby president. Reports were read and it was voted to keep the same officers: president, Guy Colby of Livermore Falls; treasurer, Cindy Rines of South Paris; and secretary, Tanya McQuade of South Paris.
The eldest men present were Wilbur Cox of Rumford and Keith Batchelder of Edgecomb, both 75 years old. The oldest woman was Maxine Palmer of Dixfield, 82. The youngest descendent was Ronald Webb, son of Sheila Judkins of Auburn, 4. Dave Madsen of Southampton, Mass., traveled the greatest distance. Those who died this year were Dave G. Madsen Sr., Beatrice Batchelder and Vernon Griffin.
A total of $131 was raised for the reunion fund. Next year’s reunion will start with a potluck lunch on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Kineowatha Park.
