LEWISTON – Marshwood Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation expects a full house for its annual fall health fair, the “Fall Fitness Frenzy.”

The fair will showcase 21 health and wellness exhibits and demonstrations by Lewiston area health professionals and community service organizations and will include recreation. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Marshwood, 33 Roger St.

The large number of exhibitors means attendees will have a wide selection of activities from which to choose. The fair will offer cholesterol, balance, vision, hearing, blood pressure, breathing and spinal screens. Educational resources for general health will be on display, includong cardiac and diabetes information.

Other exhibits will be directed at emotional wellness and relaxation like massage therapy and creating personalized scrapbooks. All demonstrations and screenings are free, including manicures, skin care, and, for the first time, suggestions for adjustments and refitting of assistive devices like walkers and canes.

“We have had an overwhelming response from organizations and individuals willing to donate their time in order to promote health awareness. We have a wide variety of exhibits. Whether you want to learn more about tools to detect memory changes, would like a manicure, or want to find out what insurance options are available, you can do that here,” said Candace Greenwood, admissions director and health fair coordinator.

Admission is free and open to the public. Healthy refreshment samples will be offered. A light lunch will be available for purchase. For more information, call Greenwood at 784-0108.
