1924 – 2003
PORTLAND – E. Starr Scully Rice, 79, of Back Cove Estates died Oct. 2, at Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Lewiston, on April 5, 1924, the daughter of John P. and Helen O’Connor Scully. She graduated from Lewiston High School and Marygrove College in Detroit, Mich.
She retired from New England Telephone Co. after 20 years of dedicated service. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Her husband Benjamin of 34 years died in 1986. Her brother John Paul Scully of South Portland also predeceased her in January of this year.
Surviving are her four daughters, Cindi Rice Conley and her husband John of Londonderry, N.H., Barbara Tecler of Florida, Judy E. Rice of Portland, and Martha Rice Vance and her husband Rick of Windham; three granddaughters, Jamie Conley of Londonderry, and Jennifer and Jessica Vance of Windham; as well as several nieces and nephews.
