WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, for a potluck supper, chaired by Leslie Gilman. At the 7:30 p.m. business meeting, plans will be completed for the annual harvest supper on Oct. 18. The charter will be draped in memory of 78-year member Robert Pettengill. Lecturer Stan Taylor will present the program.
Robin Dow
AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the American Legion Hall, Washington Street. The board of directors will meet at 10.
Bingo will be played after a bag lunch. Tickets will be on sale for the Oct. 22 Halloween party. In observance of the upcoming holidays, tickets will also be sold at the Oct. 8 and 22 meetings for a Thanksgiving Day dinner on Nov. 12 and a Christmas Day dinner on Dec. 10 at the Ramada.
There will be no Robin Dow meetings during November and December.
New members welcomed at the last meeting Sept. 24 were Landon and Sandra Hall. There were 77 members present with President Audrey Fleming presiding. Trip Chairwoman Evelyn Sawin said she has tickets for the Indian Head Resort Christmas program in Lincoln, N.H., Dec. 5, and they will be available Robin Dow meetings, or Sawin may be reached at 998-4577.
Birthdays were acknowledged for September. Attendance prize winners were Lorraine Marcoux and Audrey Flaming; pot of gold, Aileen Harnden, Mary Tassinari and Alice White. Bingo was played after the meeting and a bag lunch.
DAR speaker
NEW GLOUCESTER – Mary Dillingham Chapter, DAR, will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Opportunity Farm for Boys and Girls, Gloucester Hill Road. Guest speaker will be Julie Poulin, director of development, who will discuss the new girls’ campus. Members should bring a lunch. Prospective members are welcome.
Look good
LEWISTON – A Look Good … Feel Better program for assisting women who are faced with appearance changes resulting from cancer treatment, will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Central Maine Medical Center’s Cynthia A. Rydholm Cancer Treatment Center.
A volunteer from the National Cosmetology Association will teach a small group of women how to apply cosmetics specific to their individual needs. Hair and wig styling will also be discussed. Wigs are available through purchase or loan. Each participant will be given a complimentary bag of cosmetics made available through the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation.

AUBURN – The local chapter of Club Richelieu International will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, 775 Washington St. Speakers will be the club’s president, Roger Mailhot, and secretary/treasurer, Vincent Leblanc, telling of their travels. Members and guests are invited.
Gettysburg speaker
BRUNSWICK – The Chamberlain Civil War Round Table will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Brunswick Junior High School cafeteria, Columbia Avenue. The guest speaker will be Eric Campbell, Gettysburg guide and park ranger. He will discuss “I am Still in the Land of the Living, Letters from the Gettysburg Battlefield.” The program will examine the Gettysburg campaign and battle through the letters of the Union and Confederate soldiers involved.
The topic takes a new perspective of the most famous battle in American history by using the words of the soldiers themselves, from letters written just before, during and shortly after the campaign. The public in invited.

LEWISTON – Lewiston Emblem Club 528 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Lewiston Lodge of Elks, 1675 Lisbon St. All members are encouraged to attend. LEWISTON – The speaker at the Thursday, Oct. 9, noon meeting of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will be Cory Haskell. The subject of the talk will be “Casino No.” The session will be held at the Ramada Inn. Anyone interested in the topic or in knowing more about Rotary is invited to attend.
