LIVERMORE FALLS – Water levels at Moose Hill Pond are still down, Superintendent Doug Burdo told the Livermore Falls Water District trustees Wednesday morning.

The recent rain did bring the level up about one inch, Burdo said, but that still leaves the pond down by 24 inches. “All we can hope for is heavy fall rains before it freezes.”

The district has been drawing from Parkhurst Pond in East Jay, its secondary supply, since July 4, the superintendent reported.

This can be an expensive proposition with high pumping costs.

The present projects in Jay are progressing well, with Pineau Street nearly done, Burdo said.

A construction meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Trustees reviewed and accepted the third quarter budget, which was lower than anticipated because of metered sales and high repair costs resulting in a $1,571 deficit.
