HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Jason LaBarbera made 23 saves as the Hartford Wolf Pack cruised to a 3-1 victory over the Portland Pirates in an American Hockey League game Saturday.

Layne Ulmer scored the winner at 2:39 of the second period off rebounds by Richard Scott and rookie Juris Stals.

Lawrence Nycholat missed the net on a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway by Zinger at 1:36 of the third period, but Chad Wiseman scored off Nycholat’s pass on a 5-on-3 power play with 8:57 left.
