Lewiston’s weekend swing against the heavy hitters of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Western Division wasn’t conducive to a happy bus ride home.
For the third straight day, the Maineiacs took the ice against a red-hot team from the left corridor of the province and came up empty, bowing 6-2 to Rouyn-Noranda before 1,923 at Dave Keon Arena.
Six different Huskies scored a goal. Giulio Scandella notched four assists. Bruno Champagne had a goal and three helpers, while Dominic Deblois lit the lamp and set up two more.
It was the ninth straight win after a season-opening loss for the Huskies, who entered the day tied with Val-d’Or for second behind division-leading Gatineau.
The Maineiacs (4-7-1) entered the weekend riding a five-game unbeaten streak before losing 7-3 to Gatineau on Friday night and 4-2 at Val-d’Or on Saturday.
Rouyn-Noranda scored three power-play goals, including two in the third period to ward off a late rally by Lewiston.
Trailing 3-0 after the second period, the Maineiacs scored twice in the first 4:38 of the third to narrow the gap to one.

Lewiston got on the board at 1:27 of the third. Gabriel Balasescu scored his sixth of the season from Richard Stehlik and Mathieu Aubin.
Aubin made it 3-2 with an unassisted effort at 4:38.
Momentum slipped away after a minor penalty against Jonathan Paiement. Philippe Seguin made the Maineiacs pay, notching his first goal on feeds from Champagne and Scandella to restore a two-goal edge.
Champagne and Scandella teamed up again at 11:50, setting up Deblois.
Jeremi Lapierre concluded the scoring with his sixth of the season on the man advantage at 15:10, courtesy of Scandella and Deblois.
Fisticuffs were frequent, with the teams combining for 141 penalty minutes. Guillaume Desbiens and Alexandre Bolduc of Rouyn-Noranda and Sheldon Wenzel of Lewiston picked up game misconducts late in the third period.
Lewiston’s Matt Davis made 31 saves. Mathieu Poitras stopped 33 shots.
Yannick Tifu scored at 4:49 of the first period to put the Huskies in front.
Champagne connected at 1:39 of the second, and Brent Aubin made a three-goal cushion at the end of a power play with 55 seconds remaining in the period.
The Maineiacs face another three-game divisional road trip against Quebec, Chicoutimi and Baie-Comeau next weekend before returning home to encouter Halifax on Oct. 24.
