SANFORD – The Maine Band Directors Association Inc. continued its marching band season on Oct. 11 at Sanford High School. Nine high school bands from Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts performed.
Bands receiving an overall rating of one star were Lawrence High School and Wells High School. Wells received two stars in the areas of drum major, percussion and music. Lawrence received two stars for drum major and color guard.
Bands receiving an overall rating of two stars were Leavitt Area High School in Turner, Marshwood High School of South Berwick, Old Orchard Beach, Portsmouth, Sanford and Triton Regional High School of Byfield, Mass.
Portsmouth High School received three stars in the areas of drum major and music and four stars for percussion. Old Orchard Beach High School received three stars in the areas of drum major, percussion and music. Triton Regional High School received three stars for drum major, and Marshwood High School received three stars for percussion.
Biddeford High School received an overall rating of three stars.
The next show will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Biddeford High School. The last show of the regular season will be the Twin Cities Show at Lewiston High School at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.
The 20th annual association finals will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Edward Little’s Walton Field in Auburn.
