A program will focus on firewood as a business.
BETHEL – Firewood processing is the topic of the Oct. 18 meeting of the Western Maine chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine.
The 9 a.m. Saturday session open to the public will feature veteran logger Don Bennett of Bethel and his firewood processing equipment.
The program will include the cost and availability of firewood quality stumpage, handling procedures, mechanics, marketing, delivery and payment and analysis of how it works as a business.
Coffee and doughnuts will be available at 8:30 a.m. The woodlot is located off Route 2 on the North Road near the Bethel Airport. Signs will be posted on Route 2 by the Big Adventure Center.
