TURNER – Doris Nadeau of Turner has been awarded a Child Development Associate Credential in recognition of outstanding work with young children. The credential was awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., which represents the early childhood profession.

CDA is the only major national effort to improve child care by evaluation and recognizing the skills of individuals providing care.

As part of the CDA assessment process, every candidate for the credential is observed working with young children or families by an early childhood professional. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with families to develop children’s physical and intellectual capabilities in a safe and healthy learning environment.

Lakes Region Weekly to debut

WESTBROOK – The Suburban News of Windham has been purchased by Current Publishing, publisher of the American Journal of Westbrook and the Current of Scarborough.

The Suburban, a 13-year-old weekly owned by a group of investors, including former Secretary of State Bill Diamond will be merged into a new Lakes Region Weekly paper launched by Current Publishing. The new merged paper will debut on Oct. 16, and will cover Windham, Raymond, Naples, Standish, Casco and Sebago.

The offices of the new paper will be located at 76 Tandberg Trail in Windham (behind ERA Today Realty), just up the road from the old Suburban offices. The new office will be open later this month.
