Your article about the casino rally gives Casinos No! more credit than they deserve (Oct. 13).
I joined at least 70 people totally in support of the resort casino. Casinos No! brought vans up from York County to meet in Lewiston. Until they arrived, the number of locals on their side numbered under five.
When their half-empty vans did arrive, their group grew to around 50, at best. They were led in by an expensive convertible, drawing further attention to the economic disparity between the two sides. Their designer shoes went toe-to-toe with our laborer’s boots.
I saw people who I know personally and are hard workers encouraging people to vote “yes” on Question 3, and I saw people I have never met who were bussed here to push against it.
I said it then, and I’ll say it again: If you’re from Kennebunkport and don’t need a job, don’t tell me how to vote.
