1918 – 2003

RUMFORD – Joseph P. Hryharrow, 85, of Oxford, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at the Rumford Hospital where he had been a patient for several days.

He was born in New Haven, Conn. on Feb. 13, 1918, the son of John and Margaret Zawadowska Hryharrow. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1936 and completed one year of business school at New Haven College. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the Pacific, completed OCS Training, and was discharged in 1946. He worked for U.S. Steel Group, New Haven Works, for 41 years and retired in 1981. He moved to Lincolnville Beach in 1985 then to Oxford in 1988.

He is survived by his daughter, Maryann of Oxford.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Swanton Hryharrow, of 50 years, who died in 1992.
