MEXICO – Alvin Seng, 59, of Pine Street, lost his job at Wal-Mart after being arrested on a charge of shoplifting three cartons of cigarettes, Sgt. Robert Gallant said.

Gallant said Seng, who had been employed by Wal-Mart for a year and a half, was released on personal recognizance bail. He is slated to be arraigned on Dec. 2 in Rumford District Court.

Thursday, Oct. 9

MEXICO – After being summoned to Wal-Mart to issue a trespassing warning to a juvenile shoplifter, officer Michael Richard ended up arresting a Dixfield woman.

Sgt. Robert Gallant said Richard arrested Jana-Lin Krebs, 36, charging her with obstructing government administration after issuing a warning to the juvenile she was with. Krebs was later released on bail.

Tuesday, Oct. 14

MEXICO – Following an investigation into the reported theft of $500 worth of movies last week from a Main Street apartment, police on Monday night expect to arrest a suspect who sold the items to a local pawnshop.

Sgt. Robert Gallant said that on Oct. 14, John Wesley of 17 Main St., reported a burglary and theft of movies at his apartment. Over the weekend, investigating officer Michael Richard recovered the movies from the Mexico Trading Post on Main Street and returned them to Wesley.

Gallant said Richard would be charging a 21-year-old suspect from Mexico with possession of stolen property.

Other arrests:

Timothy Gotto, 43, of Rumford, on charges of operating under the influence, operating after suspension (habitual offender status), violation of probation and violation of bail conditions, on Oct. 13 by Sgt. Robert Gallant.

Gotto was transported to Oxford County jail and later released on bail.

Arraignment is pending an Oxford County grand jury indictment.

Michael Melcher, 26, on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor, on Oct. 12 by officer Dean Benson.

Deborah A. Knox, 46, of Mexico, on a charge of violation of a protection order, on Oct. 11 by officer Dean Benson. She was transported to Oxford County jail.
