Beekeeper lecture

OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at its headquarters on Pleasant St. It is earlier than usual because Halloween falls on the last Friday of the month. Following the business meeting, the evening program will feature Ken Record who will give a presentation on beekeeping. Refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to the public.

Gospel concert

OXFORD – Gospel singer Carole Kimball will be joined by Sunday school children of the Oxford Congregational Church for a program at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the church. A presentation of Operation Christmas Child and Shoe Box Project will be included. Carver is a Christian singer who performs at local churches. Refreshments will be served along with fellowship following the program.

WEST PARIS – There has been a change to the singspiration events being held by the West Paris Baptist Church.

Relay for Life

NORWAY – The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Planning Team is getting ready for its first Relay For Life 2004. Relay for Life provides an opportunity for anyone and everyone to participate in the fight against cancer in their community. Volunteers are welcome for the planning team, which will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Fare Share Commons, 447 Main St.

PARIS – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Paris Fire Station, Western Avenue. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, in general good health, and weigh at least 110 pounds. Giving blood takes approximately one hour. Donors may give blood every eight weeks. Blood supplies have been steadily declining over the summer months and reserves of all types need to be dramatically increased in order to meet the needs of patients, according to Thomas O.
