LIVERMORE FALLS – Those wishing to use the auditorium at the Treat Memorial Library will now pay a fee.

Selectmen voted 4-1 Monday night to accept the fee schedule proposed by Town Manager Alan Gove.

Local, community-beneficial groups will pay $10 per meeting; nonprofit agencies will be charged $20 for a half day and $30 for a full day. Individual, one-time users, such as families hosting showers, will be charged $20 with a $100 security deposit check. Private business, for profit, will pay $30 for a half day or evening and $50 for a full day plus a $200 security deposit check.

After a brief public hearing, attended by no one from the public, the board voted to apply for a $12,000 grant from the Maine Investment Trust Fund program to go with the $12,000 now available for obtaining a downtown improvement and revitalization plan.

Office hours will continue the same at the town office, which will continue to be closed on Wednesdays, at least until after the election.

Selectmen were in agreement on supporting referendum question 1-A, property tax reform.

The board spent nearly an hour discussing winter roads with Foreman Denis Castonguay, drivers Warren Smith and Rodney Lake and resident Peter Riordan.

Opinions were varied on the subject of salt preference over sand, when to call in for pre-treatment and how many men to call in at a time.

It was finally agreed to call two men in one hour before a storm to pretreat roads and to have them cover the storm until more help is needed.

After comparing samples of sand from last year and this, the board voted to purchase salt from International Salt at $38.76 per ton, rather than the lower priced one.

The board also voted to accept only propane tanks from which the valves have been removed.

A quitclaim deed was signed for Richard and Susan Moody of Cargill Street for a sewer bill that had been charged to them in the early 1980s by error.

Police presence was requested on Green Street where residents are complaining about fast drivers.

The starting time for future meetings will be changed to 6:30 p.m. to accommodate Selectmen Doreen Maheux and Ken Jacques.
