PARIS – Silver Moore-Leamon will be the speaker at the 10 a.m. service Sunday, Oct. 26, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris.
The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. Sunday school will be in session and child care will be provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall.
Food drive
PARIS – The annual Scout food drive to benefit the Food Pantry is under way this week. The Scouts will leave bags at homes in Norway and South Paris. The bags will be picked up before 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1.
Food donations are needed to help area families. Last year the drive brought in 912 pounds of food. Those who want to participate and do not receive a bag can call Dorene Vail, 527-2335.
Open house
DIXFIELD – The Extension Homemaker groups of Oxford County will hold the annual Holiday Open House crafts and demonstrations at Dirigo Middle School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday Nov. 1.
There will be coffee and doughnuts, a hot lunch, demonstrations, door prizes and a food table. The theme is “Red, White and Blue Holiday.”
Cancer speaker
NORWAY – The support group for breast cancer patients and survivors will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 29, in the Harper Conference Room, Ripley Building at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
The speaker will be Debbie Trask from the American Cancer Society. She will bring patterns and information on making Reach to Recovery Bags and will answer questions.
Anyone newly diagnosed with breast cancer, or facing chemotherapy or radiation who needs to talk about it, can join the group. Knitted hats are available, donated by members of the Western Maine Knitting Guild. For information call 743-1643.
Memory tree
WOODSTOCK – The Pinhook Meetinghouse Society of North Woodstock is planning to sponsor a lighted Christmas tree in front of the meetinghouse. Anyone who would like to donate $2 for a bulb in memory of a loved one or to honor a loved one can contact Norma Davis. Contributions can be given at the singspiration that meets the last Friday of each month.
Promoting dance
NORWAY – Professional dancers gathered from all parts of Maine on Oct. 18 at the Art Moves Dance Studio to begin work on expanding dance performance in Maine.
