NORWAY – Norway Downtown Revitalization wants to know what people think of downtown Norway, how often they come downtown, where they shop and other information.

Area residents are invited to help by becoming survey volunteers. Over the next few months, volunteers will be surveying area residents and visitors, as well as meeting with Main Street business owners and managers to learn about businesses, interests and needs.

The results will be used to help develop programs for business retention and attraction and to develop a plan for promoting downtown Norway. Norway Downtown Revitalization will offer a volunteer training session from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Norway Downtown Revitalization office, 445 Main St. above Fare Share Market. Members of the survey team for Main Street Bath will give an overview of the survey process, offer tips for good surveying, and discuss how the results will be used.

Volunteers don’t have to be Norway residents; they do need a sense of curiosity, an interest in downtown Norway, and a desire to have fun. Volunteers who conducted surveys in Bath, the ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out), said they had so much fun, their wives wanted to start their own survey group. Surveys will be conducted over the next few months; hours and days are flexible. To sign up for the Oct. 23 training session or to get more information, phone 739-2215. Those who would like to help, but cannot attend the training session may phone to set up an individual training session.
