1930 – 2003

Norway – Fred C. Sturtevant Jr., 73, of Mechanic Falls and formerly of Hebron, died Friday, Oct. 24, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Hebron on Feb. 27, 1930, the son of Fred and Elma Daisy Verrill Sturtevant Sr. He attended Hebron Schools.

He was retired from the United States Army National Guard and was a Korean War Veteran.

Mr. Sturtevant worked for the Maine Department of Transportation as a truck operator for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion #150 in Mechanic Falls, VFW in Revere, Mass., and the Hebron Fire Dept. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and story teller.

He is survived by two sons, Fred III and his wife Sharon of Mechanic Falls, and Ed and his companion Tammy Giard of Hebron; a daughter, Laurie Sturtevant of Mechanic Falls; four grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Billy, and Nate; four brothers, Lester of Hebron, William “Tudor” of Windham, Richard of Sumner, and Ernest of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas; and two brothers, Edward and Monty.
