LEWISTON – Political newcomers are the name of this year’s mayor’s game.

Candidate Nathan McCarron is a newcomer to the Lewiston political scene and candidate Lionel Guay, while a recognizable public figure, has never run for political office before.

Only candidate Charles Soule has stood for election before. This will be the fourth time Soule has sought the mayor’s position, with no success.

One of the three will be picked to replace Mayor Larry Raymond as the figurehead of city government next week. The mayor is elected at-large by voters in every city ward.

Polls are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Nov. 4 and close at 8 p.m.

City Clerk Kathy Montejo said absentee ballots are available at Lewiston City Hall now. The ballots must be back to the city before 5 p.m. Nov. 4.

The mayor and new council assume their jobs in January.
