1948 – 2003

FRYEBURG – Robert E. Gerry, 55, of Woodland Street, Fryeburg, died Oct. 26, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.

Born Oct. 22, 1948, in Portland, the son of Ernest C. Gerry Jr. and Betty (Shirley) Gerry, he grew up in East Conway and graduated from Fryeburg Academy and the University of New Hampshire.

“Bob” worked most of his life as a car salesman, including the past 14 years with Walker Chevrolet in Kezar Falls.

He was past president of both the Lions and Kiwanis Clubs and was a member of the Society of Maine Sales Executives and the Maine Automobile Dealers Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, but most of all stock car racing. He drove 22 years at Oxford Plains Speedway.

His family includes his mother of Fryeburg; his wife of 32 years, Brenda (Kimball) Gerry of Fryeburg; three daughters, Emily Gerry of Alfred, Bethany (Brian) Marles of Searsmont and Bobbie-Jo (James) Ensor of Fryeburg; one son, Robert “Brocky” (April) Gerry II of Fryeburg; two grandchildren, Aria Toninni and Jarrett Ensor; one uncle, Ralph (Marilyn) Shirley of East Conway; and one great-aunt, Phyllis Buzzell of Fryeburg.

He was predeceased by his father; and a son, Joel.
