PORTLAND – Douglas P. Lohse has been promoted to an assistant vice president in the Human Resources Department at Banknorth Group, Inc. in Portland. He will continue to be responsible for base pay administration, job evaluation and annual salary administration.
Lohse joined Banknorth in 2000 and has four years in banking. He previously served as a loan processor at another bank. Lohse is a member of World at Work.
A Durham resident, Lohse is a 1996 graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego, N.Y.
Seminar spotlights Maine businesses
SOUTH PORTLAND – The Maine International Trade Center is offering a new seminar focused on doing business with China, currently the fastest growing market for Maine businesses.
The seminar, titled China: Sourcing & Sales, will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at UNUM Provident Learning Center in South Portland.
This two-part program looks at opportunities and barriers to trade and features “real world” best practices and lessons learned for both sourcing and selling. The morning session focuses on importing from China. The afternoon session covers key topics for exporters. Participants may register for the full-day program or for either of the half-day sessions.
The seminar is part of the International Trade Education Series sponsored by Citizens Bank Foundation. Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged. Costs to attend are $65 for MITC members and $95 for non-members for the full day or $30 for MITC members and $60 for nonmembers for a half day. Small business seminar planned
WATERVILLE – Lawyers Bill Lee and Tim O’Donnell will be the featured presenters at a business breakfast Nov. 13 co-sponsored by Thomas College and the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce.
The presentation is titled Legal Pitfalls Affecting Small Business and will provide an overview of common legal issues faced by small business owners.
The presentation will take place in the Atrium of the Student Center on the Thomas College campus, at 180 West River Road, Waterville. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. with the presentation expected to run from 8 to 9 a.m. The event is sponsored by Custom Cobbler, Bangor Savings Bank and the family of Mary T. Simcock.
