The casino issue has created a lot of opinions. I am very concerned.

Ask yourself these questions:

• Is it a good job at $8 an hour if you have to travel 65 miles and work overnight?

• Who is backing this casino? Las Vegas is repeatedly mentioned.

• How much money will John Menario and other lawyers make? It’s in the millions.

• Why would we give a monopoly to one organization, what about the other Indian tribes?

• With the proposed location in Sanford, which is a stones throw to New Hampshire, will the casino guarantee all jobs will go to residents of Maine? Will they refuse to hire New Hampshire and Massachusetts residents?

• Why do they not want the “National Indian Gaming Commission” to have the ability to oversee this casino? What are we not being told?

• What did a spokesperson for the casino claim this will be the most heavily taxed resort casino in the country when that isn’t true?

I believe Maine people are smart enough to realize a casino could work but not when lawyers and backers from Vegas will benefit more than Maine people.

This is not what it seems, no shining knight here, just a lot of promises and many individuals making money off people who have spent their lives saving their money. If people want a casino, let it be on our terms and not a 20-year, no-change, cannot-look-at-our-books deal.
