WOODSTOCK – Members of the Woodstock Historical Society listened to Curator Larry Billings read English romantic poetry at a recent meeting.
Billings explained each poem briefly before he read from the works of Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Shelly and Keats.
During the meeting, it was reported that the log for Gen. Alger’s house in Woodstock had been donated to the society museum. Since the Algers were well-known, this was a significant acquisition.
The society decided to buy 250 magnet frames to sell in the museum store. They should be available for Christmas. Olive Risko read the research report.
Climate control in the museum was discussed as there have been some problems. The society also decided to meet at the Town Complex for the winter, beginning in December.
Vicki May also joined the society.
Also for programs this year, each member is going to make plans for one month. President Risko said the committees would remain the same as last year. Refreshments were provided by Vicki May and Annella Burnham.
