I read the Sun Journal editorial (Oct. 21) on fighting noise. From the writer’s one-sided stance, I can see he is not a motorcycle rider and does not consider both sides of an issue.

People living in the city have no complaints about fire engines, police and ambulance sirens or trucks. What is it that you are all trying to achieve? A city without noise is not an option. If the sounds of a cities heartbeat are too annoying, then move to the country.

I spent 12 months in a cast after a motorcycle accident. The woman driving the car made a left turn from the right lane. She did not hear me because my exhaust was not loud enough to get her attention. It cost me a year in lost wages, not to mention the pain and suffering.

Ask some motorcycle riders how many of their friends have gone down because of drivers not hearing them.

There are a few misguided individuals that push the envelope too far, but that is not reason enough to try and push your agenda down our throats.

As for inspection stickers, would you like a sticker on your $2,000 paint job?

The crux is people in vehicles do not hear us. Most riders are courteous and just hard working people who like to ride.

Try looking outside the circle. Don’t judge all because of a few. Try writing about the toy runs, benefits for MS and other contributions bikers make.
