Society speaker

CANTON – The Canton Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Canton Baptist Church.

Stan Carver of New York will be guest speaker. He will give the society a copy of his new book, “McLaughlin Diary.” Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 597-2005.

Birthday noted

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens observed its 34th anniversary on Oct. 15 with 85 present. Observing October birthdays were Hazel Dill, Jeannette Knox, Mary Buccina, June Merchant, Geraldine Arnold, Bob Harlow and Eve Kidder.

A roast pork dinner was prepared and served by Swasey-Torrey Post 100. Door prizes were won by Eve Kidder and Rita Towle.

A report was given on Foxwoods trip and the upcoming four-day mystery trip. Money is due for the Dec. 8th trip to Indian Head.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, with a potluck dinner at noon. Members are to bring articles for the annual Christmas sale which will be held followed by entertainment by the Decoteaus.
