1920 – 2003

Lewiston – Mrs. Gisele T. Gondek, Sunrise March 19, 1920 Sunset November 4, 2003, age 83, of 161 Highland Ave., died Tuesday afternoon Nov. 4, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Cananda, a daughter of Joseph and Pauline Dumont, she came to Lewiston as an infant and resided here all her life.

In 1939 she married Henry Gondek and together they raised five children. In July of 1989 they celebrated their 50th anniversary.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at both local hospitals and retired from Central Maine General Hospital in 1978.

Her first priorty was her family. Her home cooking was second to none. She always had home-baked snacks for the family when they were kids and as adults ” SHE IS THE BEST MOM ” anyone could ever have. Her giving was endless, her sacrafices will never be forgotten.

Survivors include her twin sons, William of Boston, and Richard and his wife Marilyn of Topsham; her only daughter, Irene of Lewiston; and her son David and his wife Elizabeth of Auburn. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Tracy Gondek of Auburn, Lance Gondek of Auburn, Derek and his wife Maura of Georgia, Jason and his wife Sharon of California, Meggen Gondek of Dublin, Ireland, Jennifer Gondek of Boston, Mass., and Stephanie Gondek of Durham. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Kayla Gondek, Richard Chamness, and Jameisha Gondek. She also is survived by two step grandchildren, Sarah and Laura Gardner.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, who died in 1990; and her son, James, who died in 1998.
