All right, maybe its not real Shakespeare, but it’s about Shakespeare. If you think that this play is biographical, though, you would be sadly mistaken. This term, Oak Hill High School’s Theatre in the Woods is performing The Haunting of Will Shakespeare, a comedy by Claudia Haas about how young Will Shakespeare decided to become a playwright. This play is fit for all ages and has very up-to-date language so that people of all ages can understand.

The play features a very interesting cast of players including three witches; Hecate (Jessi Lipofsky), Paddock (Nikki Amos and Heather Loubier), and Graymalkin (Emma Hanlon), who are determined to change the young Will Shakespeare (Shaun Michel) from a worthless actor into a stunning playwright.

Other cast members include: Heather Bloss (Helena), Dana Bonin and Ashlee Labrie (Celia), Courtney Davis (Phebe), Matt Stone (Silvius), Steve Palmer (Hamlet), Britney Spangenberger (Olivia), Becky Hall (Ophelia), Steve Gibbon (Petruchio), Betsy Dionne (Kate), Sarah Brackett and Ashley Malinowski (Juliet), Ilea Blier and Stephanie Stevens (Nurse), Josh Perry (Bottom), Erin McLellan (Flute), Ryan Hinkley (Starveling), and Julie Powers and Molly Waterman (Viola).

With a little help from the spirits and the new found love of Rosalind (Kim Austin), they hope to accomplish their goal. Fans of Shakespeare will recognize different passages from his many plays and others will gain insight into the great Will Shakespeare’s most famous works.

This is a great play and everyone should come see it. Performances are scheduled for November 7 and 8 at 7:00 p.m. The Oak Hill Drama Club hopes to see you there!
